Event Details

Come spend the day kayaking in the San Juans! I am truly looking forward to exploring one of the most beautiful areas in Washington State via kayak, and hanging out with old and new friends.

We will meet early Saturday morning (Aug 9), carpool to Anacortes, ferry over to San Juan Island and participate in a 6-hour paddle with Crystal Seas Kayaking. After our paddle, we'll have time to browse the shops in Friday Harbor and enjoy a meal at one of their tasty restaurants before heading back to Seattle on the ferry.

This trip is open to all levels of experience. Crystal Seas will provide all necessary gear for the trip. Please view the following link for more specs on this excursion: http://crystalseas.com/cs-sj-tour-day-tour.htm

Agenda:

6:30 am- Meet at Green Lake Park & Ride and carpool to Anacortes

8:45 am- Board ferry for Friday Harbor (on San Juan Island)

9:50 am- Ferry arrives to Friday Harbor

10:30 am- Crystal Seas picks us up in town for our kayak trip

11:00 am- Kayak paddle begins

5:00 pm- Kayak paddle ends, Crystal Seas brings us back to town

5:30 pm- Browse shops, eat dinner, relax

8:25 pm- Board ferry for Anacortes

9:30 pm- Arrive to Anacortes

11:00 pm- Return to Seattle

Additional Costs:

- $13.15 for ferry boat ticket to Friday Harbor (you only need to pay one way)

-Gas money for your driver (I suggest at least $10/person)

-$2-3 dollars to help pay for parking ($10/car)

-$$ for dinner

What to Bring:

- Lunch (in a ziplock/waterproof bag)

- Water (two liters minimum)

- Dress in layers, no cotton. I recommend fleece, quick dry clothing, and some sort of wind breaker or rain jacket. The weather can change quickly, so it's better to be overprepared and have to shed a layer, than to be cold.

- Hat and sunglasses (the glare from the water is pretty intense and can cause eye damage without sunglasses)

- Sunscreen

- Water shoes: Chacos, Tevas, Keens, Aqua Socks or old tennis shoes will work fine. Your feet will get wet. :) Please do not wear flip flops.

- Plastic bag or dry bag for your items

- Neoprene gloves (optional--they help prevent blisters)

- Camera (optional)
